The Challenge
The Challenge
The largest challenge was accessibility.
At the time, the NFT market was heavily dominated by crypto-native users, while Nickelodeon’s audience consisted largely of mainstream consumers and longtime fans unfamiliar with blockchain terminology, digital wallets, or Web3 onboarding flows.
The experience needed to:
Simplify NFT ownership for casual users
Preserve the identity and nostalgia of Nickelodeon’s IP
Create excitement around collectible drops and digital scarcity
Maintain visual consistency across multiple franchises
Increase engagement without overwhelming users with technical complexity
Design within the rapidly evolving limitations of Web3 platforms and infrastructure
Another major challenge involved translating recognizable Nickelodeon properties into a digital collectible ecosystem without losing their authenticity or emotional connection with fans.
Because the NFT space was evolving quickly, the platform also required rapid iteration, flexible creative systems, and scalable design workflows capable of supporting frequent launches and content updates.
Approach & Strategy
Approach & Strategy
The overall strategy centered around making the experience feel less like a traditional crypto platform and more like an entertainment-driven digital product that anyone could immediately understand.
Rather than leaning heavily into blockchain terminology or technical messaging, the creative direction focused on nostalgia, character recognition, and visually engaging collectible experiences. The goal was to create something that felt exciting and approachable to longtime Nickelodeon fans, even if they had never interacted with NFTs before.
A major focus was on reducing friction throughout the user journey. The team worked to simplify onboarding flows, improve visual clarity, and make collectible drops feel more like digital events than technical transactions. Strong visual hierarchy, playful motion design, and character-driven storytelling all played a major role in guiding users through the experience.
Process & Solution
Process & Solution
My role involved helping shape both the visual identity and overall user experience of the platform across product and marketing touchpoints.
A large part of the process focused on translating Nickelodeon’s recognizable brand identity into a digital collectible ecosystem that still felt modern and premium. This meant balancing playful, nostalgic visuals with cleaner interface systems and more contemporary Web3-inspired design language.
I collaborated closely with product designers, developers, and marketing teams to create experiences that felt visually exciting while remaining easy to navigate. Marketplace layouts, collectible presentation systems, promotional assets, and launch experiences were all designed with accessibility and discoverability in mind.
Motion design also played a major role throughout the project. We created animated promotional content, launch countdowns, social campaigns, and event-style marketing assets designed to generate excitement around collectible drops and encourage audience engagement.
